About

The Team

Flydog embodies a team of professionals in engineering, industrial design and manufacturing. Flydog has a resource network of collaborators from engineering and design, manufacturing and academic areas for fast, flexible and result-oriented project setup. We are able to consolidate a team of engineers and designers from 1 up to 20 onto one project.

The name – why Flydog?

At Flydog we believe that true value of product development lies in the collaboration of engineers and designers, because we believe that identity matters. Flydog is like any other dog – it is your best friend. But unlike all others, it can fly. Other dogs would like to fly too, but they can’t – for them, it is not only physically impossible, it is unimaginable.

Flydog Work

Our values

  • 1. A sustainable way

Anything we do, we look through the lens of sustainability. In product design, at any point of development, this means Life Cycle Assessment. We believe that there is no point of creating anything new to the world which does not comply with or benefit to eco-affluence of the future.

  • 2. Really, less IS more

We choose carefully what we work on. We believe that making less products, but on the ones that are really needed, make a better world. Needless to say, focusing on less things results in better products, too.

  • 3. Do no evil

Flydog will not work on any projects aimed at warfare or other destructive means to human lives, animals or the environment. Any product we create cannot be used to take advantage human weaknesses.

  • 4. Longevity and meaning

Best products are the ones that can outlive many generations. In some cases, that is not feasible or technologically possible. Sometimes, products have high value if used only once (emergency equipment and similar), but we always keep in mind that we have to object to buy-and-throw-away mindset.

  • 5. Power to the people

Flydog creates products that target a specified user profiles. Depending on the type of the project, we democratize design by bringing it close to people or using Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) to make sure the product in the pipeline exceeds customers’ expectations.

What do we focus on?

  • 1. Shift mindsets

In science, paradigm shifts are often made by the new guy. Having a fresh, unconstrained approach to problem solving gives immeasurable advantage for finding the solution. So we don’t hold ourselves back. We dig deep into the roots of user experience that reflects the core problem, and rebuild the whole thing from scratch.

  • 2. Keep it smart

High value added, but not necessarily high tech. That’s how we think. So we aim at creating sophisticated products that understand your needs – solutions, which take the most from the existing knowledge. And if the purpose of the product requires, cutting edge technology will be present.

  • 3. Keep it simple

Simplicity rocks. We don’t create additional fuzz just because someone may use the product in another way. All products must be made so that it cannot be misunderstood. Less is more. If the problem is how to go from London to San Francisco, then it should be done directly. Not through Paris, Tokyo and Melbourne, wasting valuable time of travelers who don’t need that. Just solve the actual problem, really.

  • 4. Usability

We have all met products which just frustrate. Beautiful aesthetics is useless if form doesn’t follow function, ergonomics and environment-friendly standards. We are obsessed with detail. In the process of ideation and prototyping, we tackle usability until we are absolutely sure that everything works as it should.

  • 5. Think big!

Yes we can design a matchbox. But even in this case we look at the big picture. Historically, the extent of an human life is limited. We don’t have the eternity in our hands. We focus on solving serious problems and making great products, which are in the service of whole humanity and help to keep our fragile world in balance. And we don’t forget to have fun while at it!
